Grief Reiki

Healing the Emotional, Physical and Spiritual Aspects of Grief

Grief Reiki®️ is an integrated approach to grief and loss using Reiki

It’s not a coincidence that the symptoms associated with grieving and the benefits of Reiki almost match each other one-for-one.

Receiving Reiki when we are grieving helps us to take better care of ourselves physically, spiritually and emotionally. Being physically balanced and more relaxed when we are grieving helps us to find a sense of calm. It helps us to think more clearly. It helps us sleep better.
Reiki doesn’t magically take the sadness associated with grief away, but it does make it physically easier for us to deal with grief’s ups and downs. Having a sense of calm and balance helps to give us the courage and stamina we need to tackle our journey through grief.

What is Reiki Energy Healing?

Reiki (pronounced ray-key) is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and relaxation that also promotes healing.

Reiki is given by the “laying of hands” which has been practiced for thousands of years.

The word Reiki comes from two Japanese words – Rei and Ki. The word “Rei” means higher knowledge or spiritual consciousness. The word “Ki” means life force energy. This is the same meaning as in Chi (Chinese), Prana (Sanskrit) and Ti/Ki in Hawaiian. Life force energy plays an important role in everything we do. Reiki harnesses that life force energy to promote healing, relaxation and a sense of peace.

What is a Reiki treatment like?

You’ll lay down on the massage table during your reiki healing or you could sit comfortably in a chair. It’s just important that you relax. You will remain fully clothed throughout. The atmosphere will be similar to how it is if you’ve had a massage before. The practitioner will move their hands over, they may rest on you or they may hover above you. Treatments do not hurt and you leave feeling relaxed.

What Are The Benefits of Reiki?

As humans, we are made up of energy. When the energy paths of the body are blocked or disturbed, the result can be illness, weakness, and pain. Reiki balances and strengthens the flow of energy within the body, which may decrease pain, ease muscle tension, improve sleep, and generally enhance the body’s ability to heal itself. Energy flows through a Reiki practitioner’s hands to the recipient. Reiki activates or enhances a person’s natural healing processes. Reiki provides us with physical, mental, emotional and spiritual benefits by balancing our energy.

Can reiki help with grief, and how?

Everyone can benefit from the healing energy of Reiki. Each individual’s experience will vary according to their level of openness and emotional awareness but if you are grieving and have a reiki treatment you may experience a calmness of reiki healing, as you relax, you’ll be more open to the emotions which you’ve been bottling down deep inside. In allowing these feelings to surface and release during your reiki healing session, you’re unlocking your potential to move through the stages of grief faster.

At the end of a reiki for grief session you may feel lighter.

You won’t forget your loved one, and you won’t be ‘fixed’ but every reiki session is one incremental step forward to feeling more healed. Reiki is useful in dealing with daily stresses such as anxiety, anger, tension, frustration and depression, along with other chronic ailments. Reiki does not replace medical treatments or therapies, but can enhance the body’s natural ability to heal.
